About the hall

A community hall, run by the village.

Camerton Community Hall (Somerset) has been going for over a century, a short drive from Bath. It's a registered charity looked after by Trustees and a volunteer committee, and it's open to everyone: villagers, families from the next town over, and couples who found us from much further afield.

Our story

Built in the village. Open to everyone.

150
Seated capacity

Camerton grew up around the Somerset coalfield, and the hall has served the area through all the changes since. It has hosted generations of parties, dances, meetings, wakes and wedding breakfasts, and it's still where people come together.

Plenty of our bookings come from the village. Plenty more come from Bath, the surrounding villages and a good deal further afield, drawn by a blank canvas, three acres of Somerset countryside and a fair price. Everyone gets the same welcome.

Today the main hall seats 150, with a kitchen, a resident bar and three acres of field included in every hire. Our own events, like the annual vintage car rally and the Christmas lunch, sit alongside weddings, classes, family celebrations and everything in between.

We're a charity, not a business. Income from hiring the hall goes straight back into looking after it, and the solar panels on the roof help keep the running costs down. The committee give their time for nothing, which is why we can keep hire prices fair.

How the hall is run

Trustees, volunteers and you

Three groups keep the doors open. None of them are paid, and all of them would be glad of a hand.

01The Trustees
The hall is a registered charity. Its Trustees are responsible for the building, the money and the long view, so every booking you make is with a properly constituted charity.
02The committee
A volunteer management committee looks after the day to day: bookings, the bar, the field, the events and the never-ending list of jobs an old building needs.
03Our visitors
Every booking, every event and every pint at the bar helps keep the hall going. Hire income is what pays for the upkeep, so whether you are from the village or driving in from Bath, you are doing the place a good turn.

Weddings

A blank canvas forthe day you actually want.

The hall, the three-acre field and the bar are all yours for the day, dressed however you like it: romantic, rustic, edgy or retro. Guests can stay over in the field, and every wedding raises welcome funds for the hall's upkeep.

If you knew us as Meadgate Weddings, you're in the right place. That's the name our weddings have run under for years, and it's the same venue, the same field and the same team, now all in one place here.
